Made by Pen Introduces New Color Lines to Jim Hannon-Tan's Linea Tabletop Organiser

Where Functional Art Meets Architecture

Is it functional art? Tabletop architecture? An elegant answer to organisation? Yes.

Linea by Jim Hannon-Tan is a multi-purpose tabletop organiser inspired by Oscar Niemeyer’s National Congress building and its sleek, modern lines. The interchangeable components and simple design create a flexible, functional answer to keeping clutter organised. Made from durable, easy-to-clean silicone, the Linea can withstand the rigours of daily use throughout the house.

Linea transforms the tabletop organiser into a welcome and attractive addition to any room. The boring desk organiser finally gets the fresh, functional update that takes it beyond the tired, dull necessity of generations past. This new, contemporary take on the tabletop catch-all results in a structured, small-footprint organiser with a wide range of applications. From the office to kitchen to bathroom, Linea's design allows for custom configurations in length, colour and layout. The adaptable components of dishes, cantilever cups, and tray produce the perfect place for everything from toothbrushes to tongs.

Spaces

In the bathroom:
The small-footprint and versatile configurations allow the Linea to replace a variety of toothbrush holders, soap holders, and other elements that create clutter on vanities. The Linea is ideal for keeping makeup and other personal items organised and readily available, perfect for daily use.

In the kitchen:
The adaptable layout of the Linea easily accommodates a variety of needs. A convenient place for sponges, utensils, and other frequently used kitchen items. A stand to hold your receipe book or iPhone as you cook. Or even a place to house your fresh herbs

In the hallway:
An elegant counter-top holder for keys, pens, and other personal items. A small plant display. The possibilities go on and on.

In the office:
Linea provides a custom-made place for pens, glasses, notepads, and just about anything else. Functional flair which stylishly arranges the bits that surround your desk.

LA Business Council Awards the Vermont as Winner of the Mixed-Use Category at the 45th Annual Architectural Awards

The new 23- and 29- story luxury high-rise complex in the Koreatown district offers 360 degree views to the Hollywood Hills, Downtown, and Southern LA basin.

Inspired by the urban modern lifestyle of Los Angeles, the 464-unit Vermont was designed by LA-based The Jerde Partnership with Harley Ellis Devereaux as the Executive Architect. Scaled from a previously entitled condominium scheme considered too massive for the site, The Vermont delivers two minimalist glass point towers creating a new landmark on the LA skyline.

The LEED Silver certified project enhances the street experience along the busy Wilshire corridor, with over 30,000 square feet of retail and dining space, 896 parking spaces, and an 18,000 square-foot publicly accessible urban art centerpiece.

"From an urban design and architecture strategy, the scale, massing, circulation, details, open spaces, everything was purposefully designed to reflect LA's diverse culture and create a place that both the new residents and surrounding neighborhood could benefit from," says Tammy McKerrow, Shareholder & Senior Design Principal at Jerde.

At the  7th level sky lobby, the towers are connected by an elevated social oasis, tucked above the bustling street below. Just off the sky lobby is an outdoor rooftop amenity, featuring an expansive garden, heated pool, sun deck, spa and dog park.

"It's one of the first transit oriented developments to be erected in post-recession Los Angeles - and really makes a statement along the Wilshire Corridor and within the LA Skyline. I couldn't be more proud of the building and the successful collaboration with The Jerde Partnership and JH Snyder Construction," says Albert Sawano, AIA, LEED AP, Project Director and Principal at Harley Ellis Devereaux.

Jerde
The Jerde Partnership is a visionary architecture and urban planning firm that designs unique places that people love to visit and go back to time and again. Nearly one billion people visit Jerde Places every year.
Located around the globe, Jerde Places are iconic, go to destinations that pulse with life through a carefully orchestrated procession of public spaces, shops, parks, restaurants, entertainment, housing and nature. They transform the economic and social landscape of neighborhoods, cities and regions and deliver astounding results across the board – economic success and recognition for developers, businesses and cities and amazing experiences for the people who work, eat, stay, shop, play, wander and live there.

The 2,000 square foot space will showcase the brand's iconic ultra-soft, graphic tees, jumpers, dresses, and bottoms, angora blend sweater knits, eyewear, denim, swimwear as well as the full Kids range.

The exterior façade is characterized by Wildfox's signature peach-pink color, black and white awnings and a pink neon sign in the center front window which reads "Fall in Love" - a slogan the brand has used since one of its first seasons.

Designed by Katie Hurley, Owner and Founder of Fineas+Clover, the flagship's décor is best described as an eclectic fusion of locally sourced, vintage pieces with modern accents. Expertly blending antique Mastercraft brass tables and delicate vintage china displays complemented by etched filigree mirrors and hand blown glass chandeliers, the interior transforms the Wildfox personality into a physical space patrons can experience on an intimate level.

The interior boasts 15 foot beamed ceilings, travertine floors, a fireplace, and patio cabana, which will serve as an area to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Lining the walls of three shag carpeted dressing room areas is custom wallpaper featuring collages of the brand's most iconic campaign imagery in a sepia tone topped with a shiny, metallic coating.

Launching exclusively in-store for holiday season, customers will be able to completely customize their own sunglasses by pairing any existing frame with a lens finish of their choice. Leenabell jewelry designer, Monica Stanley, has several of her collections available for purchase in the Wildfox store. Ranging from dainty to chunky, vintage to modern, and fine to custom, price points are between $100-1800.

Inside the store, a live DJ set by BOYSTOWN kept the energy high while guests shopped Wildfox's Fall collection were treated to manicures by NCLA, makeup touch ups by Blushington, and a variety of refreshments and specialty cocktails provided by SVEDKA, Veuve Clicquot champagne, Château D'Esclans Whispering Angel Rosé, Heineken, Perrier and Red Bull. Rolls-Royce Announces New Technology and Logistics Centre

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced that a new Technology and Logistics Centre will be built at Bognor Regis, close to the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, West Sussex. The new 30,000m2 centre will consolidate a number of current logistics functions and allow for future expansion.

The Technology and Logistics Centre will be located on the Oldlands Farm Business Park on the northern edge of Bognor Regis, eight miles from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The Centre will be ideally situated to take advantage of the forthcoming Bognor Regis Northern Relief Road, due to open in 2015. Around 200 people will be employed at the Centre, with a number of new roles created in addition to those transferred from existing logistics functions. The Technology and Logistics Centre is planned to be fully operational in early 2016.

The site has been identified by Arun District Council as part of its 'Enterprise Bognor Regis' initiative. The area is being developed as a new premier business location in West Sussex, reserved for mixed office, industrial and supporting development to deliver a new generation of buildings in a high quality environment to sustain both newly established and growing businesses. Rolls-Royce will be the first major business to take advantage of the initiative.

The Technology and Logistics Centre will consolidate three current operations - an inbound warehouse for production parts; a distribution centre, including an inbound body store and finished car store and a workshop for car preparation. The Centre will be managed on behalf of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars by an external logistics provider.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said, "I am delighted to announce our new Technology and Logistics Centre, which reflects the sustainable development and ongoing success of our business. Every Rolls-Royce motor car is built at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood and this new facility will provide the required local logistics support for our current and future models." He continued, "Rolls-Royce is a British manufacturing success and we remain fully committed to building our future here in West Sussex."

Business Minister, Matthew Hancock, said, "This terrific new centre at Bognor Regis will give a huge boost to the local economy, and safeguard 200 jobs. It's testament to one of our Great British success stories, Rolls-Royce, and its valued contribution to UK manufacturing."

Nick Gibb MP for Bognor Regis & Littlehampton and Minister of State for Schools, said, "To have attracted a company of the calibre of Rolls-Royce to Bognor Regis is a major coup for our town. The association of Rolls-Royce with Bognor Regis, Chichester, Goodwood and West Sussex can only help the long term economic prosperity of the area. Credit and thanks should go to Arun District Council's leadership and hard work and the Board of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars for the opportunities this new facility will deliver for our town."

Councillor Mrs Gill Brown, Leader of Arun District Council, said, "This is exceptionally good news for Bognor Regis and the district as a whole. We are delighted that Rolls-Royce has chosen to base their new Technology and Logistics Centre at Enterprise Bognor Regis. The council is committed to supporting business growth and the creation of more employment opportunities in the area. The foresight shown by the council to retain this strategic site for employment uses and progress a Local Development Order is evidence that we are very much open and ready for business. This is a significant step forward for the regeneration of Bognor Regis and I am confident more will come in the near future. We welcome Rolls-Royce and look forward to future opportunities to work together."

Ron Crank, Chief Executive of Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership, said, "We very much welcome this new investment and further expansion by Rolls-Royce in West Sussex. It will help our region to remain at the cutting edge of automotive design, logistics and manufacture, whilst creating opportunities for local people to develop careers with a globally renowned company."

Porsche Icons for the Home: Wall Clock Made From 20-inch 911 Turbo Rims

Porsche Driver's Selection is Expanding Its Collection of Genuine Sportscar Parts

Rim wall clock arrangement by Porsche Design Studio

[Stuttgart], August 7, 2014 - Porsche Driver's Selection is expanding its Masterpieces Collection launched in 2013 with an exclusive rim wall clock.

Like all products in the collection, the wall clock is also made from a genuine sportscar part: a 20-inch Porsche 911 turbo rim. The clock is made in Germany and available now in Porsche Centres and at www.porsche.com/shop.

Rim wall clock by Porsche Design Studio

The Porsche 911 turbo rim gives the wall clock, which is designed by the Porsche Design Studio, its unique look. Both hands are made of aluminium, painted in the Porsche exterior colour "Indian Red". The Porsche crest is in the centre of the rim and rotates with the minute hand, thanks to the integrated quartz watch mechanism from Germany.

A steel wall rack guarantees that the clock, which weighs eight kilograms, is securely mounted. The wall clock is a genuine Porsche, right down to the last detail: the clock is even hung on the wall with a faithful recreation of a Porsche valve cap.

Home and Office Design by Porsche Design Studio

The rim wall clock goes perfectly with the office chair made from a Porsche 911 sports seat and the GT3 cup shelf made from a Porsche 911 GT3 cup rear spoiler. Details of these and other products in the Porsche Driver's Selection range can be found in Porsche Centres around the world. Not all products are universally available.

"Zaha Hadid – World Architecture" Exhibition at the Danish Architecture Centre

[New York], July 5, 2013 - The summer exhibition at The Danish Architecture Centre features the work of the internationally acclaimed star architect Zaha Hadid in her first solo exhibition in Scandinavia from 29 June to 29 September 2013.

The Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid is one of the most admired and discussed architects in the world. She also happens to be the only woman in the "premier league" of architecture, and the first female architect to receive the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize - "the Nobel Prize of architecture".

For the past 30 years, Zaha Hadid has challenged the boundaries of architecture with her sensual, expressive architectural language which has become an icon for our vision of the global architecture of tomorrow. Examples of her work include: the MAXXI Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome (2010), Guangzhou Opera House (2010), the BMW Central Building in Leipzig (2005), London Aquatic Centre (2012) and, in Denmark, the extension to the museum Ordrupgaard (2005), situated north of Copenhagen.

For this summer's major exhibition at the Danish Architecture Centre, Zaha Hadid Architects have created an extraordinary exhibition experience. You will enter a world of towers, floating shells, selected projects and designer objects. Everything is presented in a borderless scenic universe, showing how Zaha Hadid's spectacular buildings and designs arise out of a progressive digital and geometric universe.

Interactive Installation
At the exhibition you can experience an interactive installation that changes in form and expression by the visitor's movements in space. Here you can see a video of the installation from the exhibition.

Parametric Space from Kollision on Vimeo.

Zaha Hadid Architects [www.zaha-hadid.com] worked together with design office Kollision [www.kollision.dk], CAVI [www.cavi.au.dk] and Wahlberg [www.wahlberg.dk] to create the interactive installation 'Parametric Space' for the exhibition 'Zaha Hadid - World Architecture' at the Danish Architecture Centre [www.dac.dk] 29 June - 29 September 2013.

The installation is a fully parametric space that reacts to the visitors' movements by changing shape and expression. At first glance the installation is a dark rectangular space - four walls, floor and ceiling. But the space change when visitors enter. What appears to be a normal flat ceiling reveals itself as a flexible membrane that starts to glow and physically move down into a funnel shape that slowly reaches out. Stepping closer to the funnel it moves further down; stepping back the membrane draws itself back, too. But the membrane does not only change its shape it is also brought to life by thousands of dynamic light particles inhabiting the surface reacting on the membrane movements, creating an almost dreamy but still tangible experience related to the parametrically architectural language that Zaha Hadid Architects are known for.

TECHNICAL SETUP

The installation is brought to life by two laser scanner sensors that continuously gather information about visitors' positions in the space. The positions are used for calculating the heights of the four actuators pushing and pulling cylindrical volumes on the topside of the membrane. The cylinders are equipped with RGB light sources that express the cylinder height by color and intensity. Finally, four projectors built into the floor, project the particles of light onto the membrane. The particles are spatially calculated on a virtual 3D surface of the approximate membrane shape.

CREDITS
The exhibition was developed by Zaha Hadid Architects in collaboration with the Danish Architecture Centre, supported by Realdania [www.realdania.dk] and Kvadrat [www.kvadrat.dk]. Kollision managed the design process and the technical project development of Parametric Space together with Zaha Hadid Architects; CAVI programmed the infrastructure and the parametric actuator and lighting control; Wahlberg constructed the membrane installation together with the actuator and the light source integration; and Zaha Hadid Architects developed the real-time graphics projected onto the membrane.
