Samsung Chef Collection Brings Smart Technology and Beautiful Design to Premium Built-In Home Appliance Category

New Line Redefines the Modern Kitchen and Simplifies Daily Lives

Samsung Electronics America, Inc., the number one selling brand of major appliances, announced its new Chef Collection line of premium built-in appliances. Merging elegant design and industry leading technology, the newly redesigned line of Chef Collection was unveiled at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) in San Diego.

With Chef Collection, Samsung brings its most innovative and popular home appliance features to the premium built-in category, reflecting its deep consumer insights and industry expertise. For the first time, Samsung is introducing two new fully integrated built-in refrigerators, including the industry’s first 42” Built-In 4-Door Flex model. The line also includes signature features that only Samsung offers in a full suite of kitchen appliances that includes wall ovens, cook tops, Pro ranges, and dishwashers. All models are Wi-Fi-enabled, offering modern functionality and convenience to consumers.

“As homes have become more modern, we felt it was important to give people more choices when selecting premium appliances that complement their elevated sense of style,” said John Herrington, Senior Vice President, General Manager of Home Appliances, Samsung Electronics America. “With the reimagined Chef Collection, we’ve integrated our best and brightest innovations and design details in a premium built-in platform that meets the needs and priorities of modern families and fits how they live their lives.”

The New Samsung Chef Collection Line

Samsung Chef Collection seeks to redefine and modernize the home, with advanced features that don’t just complement modern kitchens, they enhance the overall look and functionality of the space. It is available in Samsung’s exclusive matte black stainless steel – a soft brushed metal finish, as well as stainless steel. The line is also panel-ready so the look of the appliances can adapt to changes in design preferences over time. Other Chef Collection highlights include:

The AutoRelease™ Door opens automatically to circulate air and improve overall drying by as much as 35% (3)

The complete line of new Chef Collection built-in appliances will be available later this year.

Wi-Fi Capabilities Throughout

Samsung Chef Collection reflects the aspirations of a new generation of state-of-the-art homeowners who not only prefer a beautiful look in their kitchen but also appreciate having the latest innovation in their homes. By making the appliances Wi-Fi-enabled, for example, Chef Collection gives consumers peace of mind that the stove isn’t still simmering while they are out of the house, and that the dishwasher cycle has been started after a big night of entertaining. Now, all of this can be controlled from a smart phone, bringing necessary smart technology to the built-in category.

“As my career has flourished over the past year, I need to be as efficient as possible and make every moment count,” said Candice Kumai, leading wellness expert, chef and author. “This is especially true when it comes to the kitchen. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in bed and realized that I didn’t start the dishwasher. Or, I’ve been in the middle of a fitness class and wondered, ‘Did I turn off the oven?’ I feel like Samsung created Chef Collection with people like me in mind.”

Built with Installers in Mind

Knowing that installation time and repair work are major pain points for installers, Samsung set out to make the process easier than ever with Samsung Chef Collection. Less cumbersome packaging solutions and time-saving features like pre-drilled holes and easy leveling make installation faster. Installers can run Wi-Fi-enabled, remote diagnostic checks to ensure the appliance is functioning properly and help reduce repeat visits for repairs.

IKEA's New "SEKTION" Kitchen Range Offers More Customization Options to Create the Dream Kitchen

New Features Such as Increased Modularity and Integrated Lighting Allow Homeowners to Create Individualized Kitchen Solutions

IKEA launched the SEKTION, a new, versatile kitchen system. The new modular kitchen, which replaced the current kitchen system AKURUM, enables customers to create truly customizable solutions, regardless of the size and shape of their kitchen space. SEKTION offers new features such as more modularity, integrated lighting, inside drawer organization, and "drawers within drawers," giving homeowners options to create a beautiful, quality kitchen at a great price.

In developing SEKTION, IKEA did extensive research into what the kitchen means to people today, discovering that functionality and ease of use are top-of-mind for customers. "At IKEA, we understand that people want to create a home that is comfortable, safe and welcoming for their friends and families," says Kathleen Wilber, IKEA US Sales Leader for Kitchens. "For the new SEKTION kitchen, this meant creating a collection that that is beautiful, easy to use, and works for all of life's everyday activities, from cooking and eating to socializing and doing homework."

Features of the new SEKTION kitchen system include:

  • A modular design that is easier to install, more functional and gives you almost endless possibilities when creating your kitchen.
  • Drawers within drawers that give you extra storage while maintaining a sleek, modern look.
  • New interior organizers to help squeeze the most out of every square inch of drawer and cabinet space and create a kitchen where things are accessible and easy to find.
  • Integrated LED lighting with features such as corner modules, electrical and USB outlets, remote control dimming and in-drawer lighting.

SEKTION also retains the best features of the current IKEA kitchens, such as soft close drawers and doors, a wall mounted rail system for easy installation, and a 25-year limited warranty. SEKTION is not compatible with the AKURUM system.

SEKTION is available in a range of colors and styles from traditional to modern and everywhere in between. Customers can use the online IKEA Kitchen Planner to plan their own SEKTION kitchen. In addition to the online tools, IKEA offers a full range of services in-store, from planning and measuring to ordering and installing.

Trends From the 12th Annual Architectural Digest Home Design Show

Interior Designer Antony Todd's Scoop on the Show's Hottest Home Innovations

[New York], March 31, 2013 - It's the mecca of inspiration for the home...and we caught up with interior designer Antony Todd for some of his favorite finds....

"I think what I found so special this year about the show is how many artisans are here showing their products. Be it more sort of authentic design or whether is something let's say high-geared and technical like Jenn-Air. It's a wonderful mix of form and function all mixed into one, These kitchen appliances look more like luxury design pieces," says Todd.

Jenn-Air General manager, Steve Brown tells us, "The brand has always been a pioneer in advanced ventilation systems. From the introductions of the first down draft cook tops to parametric ventilation, which hangs on your wall like a flatscreen TV to our latest the Accolade. It's beautifully handcrafted in stainless steel and glass and it's got this beautiful curved shape so when it comes up it puts the ventilation power closer to the actual source of the cooking. Not only is it very efficient but its also beautiful and sculptural on your countertop and then with a press of a button when you're not using it, it just elegantly disappears into the countertop."

Brown also talks about their latest in steam ovens..."It's self-contained so it doesn't need a water line running to it. Cooks fish and vegetables beautifully but its also a traditional convection over so you can do roasts in there as well. So its like a supplemental oven to your main one. It also has functions for bread proofing and even a function for making your own yogurt at home."

Todd's other favorite hot spots, furniture company...Karkula. "I think their style is good, it's still contemporary but classical and therefore has a timeless appeal to it."

And good lighting Todd says is one of the most important touches in a home...and one of his favroties is Fiyel Levent Atelier. "It's the key to everything it makes people look good. It lights, it personifies beauty. I mean lighting I think is the key to any design, " says Todd

But the finishing touch to any home...great textiles. Todd likes Hiro Kota Kata, "They have a beautiful sense of textiles that are so soft and so manageable. People are really living and breathing, and loving the work."

Superb Coffee, with Flair!

Siemens EQ5 Macchiato (TE503201RW)

Voluptuous coffee flavour and gorgeous design are a barista-beating duo in new bean-to-cup coffee centres from Siemens.

[New York], August 14, 2012 -
The fully-automatic machines - the EQ5 Macchiato (TE503201RW) and EQ5 Macchiato Plus (TE506209RW) - are beautiful on the outside, and marvels of engineering on the inside.

Both models have a 1.7litre water, 300g bean hopper and 15 bar pressure, plus an impressive range of features including adjustable coffee strength and double-shot setting; grind-setting, nozzle-height and drink-size adjustment; a two-cup function, and they will even make a perfect brew from ready-ground coffee rather than beans. The Macchiato Plus offers an extra one touch setting for perfect latte or cappuccino style.

Both models use Siemens' unique Aroma Pressure system, which has a specially-shaped tamper to ensure consistent compression of the ground coffee and perfectly reproducible flavour with every cup. Water is forced through this at 15 times atmospheric pressure - enough to produce a cup within 30 seconds. Siemens' special Senso-Flow heating element keeps the water at the ideal temperature during the brewing process, for great taste without over-brewing.

Siemens EQ5 Macchiato Plus (TE506209RW

The EQ5 Macchiato - in super-cool silver - has a graphical display for easy use, digital controls, a timer, an independent milk system with a separate nozzle, a removable drip tray with a mechanical sensor to warn when it is full (the Plus model has an electric sensor), as well as cleaning and de-scaling programmes, including a separate milk-cleaning programme. The tray, drip plate, milk nozzle and bean container lid are all dishwasher safe.

The EQ5 Macchiato Plus - in a gorgeous, deep-lacquered piano black - offers all these facilities, plus lighting.

Both machines offer an optional separate milk container and Brita's Intenza cartridge for consistently perfect water - a major ingredient in the making of any truly delicious cup of coffee.

With the EQ5s, Siemens' briliant technology and beautiful design combine to offer the headiest coffee aroma, the perfect crema, the frothiest milk and the finest bean-to-cup experience you can buy.

[Benton Harbor, Mich.], July 17, 2012 - KitchenAid, the forerunner in bringing color to kitchen appliances, has introduced six eye-catching new colors to its lineup of Professional 600 Series stand mixers. These latest additions to the KitchenAid color palette are Cobalt Blue, Espresso, Gloss Cinnamon, Green Apple, Pink, Majestic Yellow and Tangerine.

"Beyond well-crafted products for those who love to cook, KitchenAid is committed to offering consumers new ways to accent their kitchens and express their personalities," says Beth Robinson, senior manager of brand experience for KitchenAid. "It's amazing how even relatively small splashes of color can enliven a kitchen."

Porsche Design Kitchen for the Ritz in Paris

Poggenpohl and Porsche Design Extend Cooperation and Plan New Kitchen

**BEST ARCHIVE NEWS**[Stuttgart/Herford], June 14, 2010 - The premium kitchen manufacturer Poggenpohl and the luxury brand Porsche Design have extended their licence partnership until 2014.

The licence agreement between the two premium brands exists since 2005, when the two companies developed and launched their first successful luxury kitchen - the P'7340. Both companies have also agreed upon an option to develop and produce a new model with a lower starting price than the present P'7340 luxury model.

Elmar Duffner, Managing Director of Poggenpohl Möbelwerke GmbH is extremely satisfied with the extension of the licence agreement and says: "The brand cooperation arrangement between Porsche Design and Poggenpohl is a success story. I am very much looking forward to continue our mutual work".

"The Porsche Design luxury kitchen matches perfectly our product range and with Poggenpohl we have found the ideal partner", says Dr Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group. "With its purist design, the P'7340 contributes to the integrity of the brand's typical clean and sleek look. Nowadays the kitchen increasingly becomes an important venue in a household. Our luxury model is the ideal kitchen not only for those who love cooking but also for people with high tech affinity."

Today Porsche Design kitchens from Poggenpohl can be found in exclusive private households and apartment complexes all over the world. Whether in Dubai, Bangalore, Florida, Hamburg, Hong Kong, Lisbon, Moscow, Paris or Zurich - wherever deep-pocketed customers and apartment complex investors attach importance to exquisite quality and exclusivity, the P'7340 is the number one choice.

The latest example is the legendary Ritz Hotel in Paris. Managers of the luxury establishment ordered a black Porsche Design kitchen to be integrated into the hotel's most expensive suite. The "Imperial" measures an area of 200 square metres with two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom (approx. costs per night: €10,000). Regular guests of the luxury suite include for example members of European and Arab royal families. Before the Porsche Design kitchen was fitted, the luxury suite was lavishly renovated, forgoing an extra bedroom in favour of the kitchen.

Another order for a Porsche Design kitchen comes from the Portuguese capital Lisbon. This is where an exclusive apartment building is being constructed in the famous Chiado quarter. Poggenpohl is delivering seven Porsche Design P'7340 luxury models for this project. Around the world, kitchens of the Porsche Design luxury brand are meanwhile sold at some 90 selected dealers and the company's own exclusive Poggenpohl studios.

About Poggenpohl
Poggenpohl was established in 1892 and is today the world's most famous kitchen brand. The company employs 550 members of staff worldwide and exports its exclusive kitchens to over 70 countries across the globe. All products are developed and manufactured without exception at the company's operation in Herford, Westphalia. Since 2000, Poggenpohl Möbelwerke GmbH has been part of Sweden's Nobia Group, Europe's largest manufacturer of kitchens.
