A Russian Apartment with Contemporary Touch

A Posh Creation by Ekaterina Lashmanova

Boca Do Lobo Design Inspiration Behind-the-Scenes

Posh, Sharp, Glamourous – this is how we could describe the stylish and fresh interior design creation by Ekaterina Lashmanova, a residential apartment for young family.

The refined work of Ekaterina Lashmanova, through an attentive dedication to details, reaches its apogee within this contemporary project, flowing into an inspiring bold apartment in the imposing city of Moscow, Russia.

Ekaterina had the free pass to open the doors of the place and spend some time bringing to life the most tasteful trends. She designed more than a house – she created an inspiring and iconic place to live in. From the high-ceiling to the details of the curtains, everything is custom made, conceived by artisans – a constant search of singularity and perfection.

Behind the inspiration of the talented Russian interior designer is a profound admiration for the Portuguese Design – and Boca do Lobo has a main role, leading as pioneer of a product design made to brake boundaries through the aesthetic and bring handcrafted artistic pieces into people’s day-to-day life.

Living Room

The living room shape has grand ceilings and large windows which the designers used to their advantage. The classical accents with fresh color palette are highlighted by the Wave center table due to its gold hammered finish and contemporary lines. Taking center stage, the creation by Boca do Lobo brings sophistication and an unexpected contemporary vibe to the room.

Blue hues and sensuous creams pair perfectly with the graphic flooring and the subtle gold accents in the lighting that extends throughout the apartment.

Wave Centre Table

True classics never fail to make an impression and this is certainly the case for the Wave Table from Boca do Lobo. Nowadays, the traditional coffee table is no longer the only way to decorate the living room; recently coffee tables are taking original shapes and designs that give the living room a whole unique look through unusual forms and new materials. Wave is an original and a stylish coffee table for a modern living room as it is also an unconventional center table for your sitting room. With great style and elegance it creates an exclusive ambiance to the modern interiors. Developed by a Portuguese jewelry artisan, this piece is made of hand hammered gold brass with a black mirror top.

Dining Room

Bedroom

The bedroom’s pale touches and rich nishes screams comfort and elegance to one of the most important rooms of the apartment. A glamorous bathroom portrays a funky style with its bold pink panels and the art nouveau gold mirror.

Black pronunciations like the big indoor frames gives a posh touch to keep the majestic apartment as modern as rich.

Interview with Ekaterina Lashmanova

In the new project of Ekaterina Lashmanova we can see all current trends of interior design. The interiors of Ekaterina Lashmanova are thought through to the smallest details, whether they are door handles or sofa cushions. In all the rooms, from a large living room to a small dressing room, exist a special harmony: only the mood can change from room to room, but the overall atmosphere is always the same.

The new design of the designer - apartments for a young family - is made on the same principles. "Customers are different," says Ekaterina. - But the owner of this apartment is ideal! I remember how i come for meeting to discuss the future concept of the interior.

We were talking about design, about trends, and in one moment she asked me what I like. I opened my laptop and started showing my moodboards and what inspires me. "That's exactly what I want," immediately said the owner. - Let's do it! "If with the decorative design of the interior everything just turned out, then over the redevelopment had to break head.

"Being an architect by education, I pay a lot of attention to space planning. In an ill-conceived layout it's uncomfortable to live, and in this case the decor will not save it" - Ekaterina admits. - This apartment had its indisputable advantages: high ceilings and a large number of windows from floor to ceiling.

However, the apartment plan was a quarter of a circle. To create rooms of the right forms, they had to be levelled by walls, cabinets, radius cornices and curtains. "In addition to the living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two dressing rooms and a dining room, combined with a kitchen, the apartments were allocated a place for a small study.

"During the photo shooting of the interior, I went into this small room to rest, sat on the couch and suddenly felt for myself how comfortable it was," reminds the designer. - On the one hand, everything here is very chambery: a sofa, shelves and a coffee table.

But at the same time you are sitting opposite a huge window from floor to ceiling on the tenth floor, and you have a beautiful view of Moscow. An indescribable feeling of relaxation. As in most projects of Ekaterina Lashmanova, many objects and all carpentry work in this interior are made to order in private workshops.

"We have our own high-class cabinetmakers and textile specialists, with whom we have been cooperating for many years and whose quality of work we trust very much " says Ekaterina. But most of the furniture and lights came here from the US and Portugal.

"I'm impressed by the Portuguese designers," Ekaterina admits. - Everything they do is very fashionable and relevant. What this interior needs! "

Andre Kikoski Architect Designs $45 Million Oceanfront Home for Hampton’s Premiere Developer Jay Bialsky

Andre Kikoski, renowned for his work at the Guggenheim Museum, announced his newest project, a contemporary oceanfront home for Hamptons real estate magnate Jay Bialsky.

Bialsky has built some of the most exceptional homes seen on Long Island’s East End for some of the Hamptons’ most discerning clientele. He turned to AIA Institute Honor Award-winning architect Kikoski for a residence that celebrates the stunning natural landscape, storied beauty, and expansive ocean views that are the best of the Hamptons.

"We wanted to create harmony among house, land and sea, something that took advantage of this unique oceanfront positioning, a contemporary design where you can almost feel the sand beneath your feet from any spot in the house," said Kikoski. "We’ve worked on NYC trophy penthouses where it was all about the views, but this home really takes the cake."

With an outstanding oceanfront location and deeded ocean access to a private section of Bridgehampton’s sought after beaches, this state-of-the-art home takes the indoor/outdoor living concept to the next level, with 10,000SF +/- of interior space complemented by over 12,000SF +/- of exterior space. The expansive exterior space features multiple outdoor living areas including a covered kitchen and dining area, rooftop deck with landscaping/garden, numerous outdoor lounges, custom infinity-edge pool, fire pit and outdoor shower.

The combined 22,000 SF+/- of interior and exterior living space is afforded by the properties large and optimal building envelope being set in an AE Zone, which is rarely found in oceanfront properties. The superb location is captured by entire walls of glass that provide sweeping panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from nearly every room in the house, while sunset vistas over stunning Mecox Bay can be enjoyed from the rooftop deck.

With a keen eye for any parcel's maximum potential, Bialsky is responsible for some of the most magnificent homes and developments on the East End, many of which have unparalleled views. Bialsky's exacting standards keep his homes in constant demand, "I don't buy any property or build any home I wouldn't want to live in myself," he says.

The property is listed for $44.9M with Zachary and Cody Vichinsky of Bespoke Real Estate. Bespoke is a Hamptons based firm that only represents $10M and above properties . Kikoski is currently working on 75 Kenmare, a 90,000 SF residential development which recently broke ground in Nolita, with DHA Capital and the Kravitz Design Group. He is also the interior architect on the 325,000 SF tower by the Related Companies slated to open this summer at Hudson Yards. And AKA launched a line of home accessories with Swarovski Crystal at Salone de Mobile in Milan, Italy last April.

ABOUT THE DESIGN
The design blends 10,000 square feet of interior living space over two levels with an equal area outside -- spread between three floors of invitingly landscaped decks and terraces. Interior and exterior lie side by side, gently joined together by 60-foot long expanses of automated structural sliding glass panels that disappear into exterior walls. The open-plan living and entertaining spaces, as well as the master suite, enjoy magnificent direct views of the Atlantic Ocean, Mecox Bay and the landscape beyond in every direction from the second level. A triple height glass atrium organizes vertical circulation within the house, filling the interior with the fabled natural light of the Hamptons at every moment of the day. A folded metal plate staircase connects this level to a spectacular rooftop entertaining garden.

Equally bold is the focal point of the first level – an expansive outdoor deck, poised above the grassy dunes and offering direct ocean views from the trellised open-air dining pavilion, bar and kitchen, as well as a fire pit with seating area and multiple landscaped lounging areas. The spectacular oceanfront infinity edge pool and spa, unique in being just steps from the beach, is however the centerpiece and star. These dramatic exterior spaces flow into informal indoor entertaining rooms, including a generous family room and high tech home theatre which also feature automated structural sliding glass wall panels. Six additional bedrooms, a home office, wine cellar, sauna, and six car garage round out the program. The residence is set amidst one and a half expertly landscaped acres with ample manicured lawns designed by award-winning landscape architect Edmund Hollander.

In addition to elegantly composed glass facades, with playfully proportioned window patterns, the exterior of the house is clad in simple honest materials such as cerused stucco and a randomly staggered horizontal screen of three different sizes of Brazilian Ipe wood components. The screen is inspired by Kikoski’s prior collaboration with artist Liam Gillick for a site-specific installation, and complements the clean lines of the exterior with an inviting dappling of shade and shadow.

Kasthall’s Rug Collection: Arrival of Origin

Kasthall’s Design Studio Refines Design Legacy and Creates Momentum Going Forward

For the 2017 collection, Kasthall’s design studio has put particular emphasis on future development with the company’s design legacy as its point of departure. The theme of the 2017 collection is "Arrival of Origin". One of the news is within hand tufted rugs. Kasthall combines LOOP-technology with a new three-dimensional technique for tufting, using the best of traditional craftsmanship. Showcasing the new technology are the first two releases of the collection – the hand-tufted Field and Madison rugs.

Since the start in 1889, Kasthall has been an innovative design company that creates trends rather than following them. The idea behind this year’s collection is to highlight Kasthall’s design origins as well as its ability to look ahead and develop new crafting techniques. Kasthall has been developing the LOOP technique for some years now, making a more three-dimensional expression in tufted rugs possible in the 2017 collection.

In this collection, Kasthall experiments with creating patterns by applying different heights of bouclé, showcased in the two new releases: the Field and Madison rugs. The surface in the higher bouclé adds a new expression, creating shadows that subtly enhance the three-dimensional look and feel. The rugs are framed with a cut edge, adding a stylish and playful touch.

Prior to the color selection, Kasthall looked into its existing color archive of weaving yarn consisting of 116 different shades of color. Weaving yarn is thicker than traditional tuft yarn and gives a more robust impression.

The color choices for the 2107 collection were inspired by pure material such as paper, clay and chalk. The Field collection blends Paris Blue, Rouge, Almond, Porcelain Pink and Blond.
